In January of this year, I began to write fiction in a new way, working from notes and recording as I spoke, then editing down the result. In part, I went audio to save eyestrain, which has become an issue. But I also wanted to change up the way I express myself, and so far I've been glad that I'm trying out this idea.
My newest project is "Freedom Island," which is set mostly in contemporary Indianapolis, specifically on the southeast side. Bethany, the narrator, is 34, white, and from a large family who live right at the poverty line, soimetimes sinking a bit below it.
If the sound sample made you curious, here are links to the pilot episode, which is 45 minutes long, and the second episode, which plays for 25 minutes. They are done slideshow-style YouTube videos.
Episode 3 will be ready week after next! Like all our group-blog posts, episodes of "Freedom Island" are archived at our Facebook Page.
